Overview
Upstate Mafia is CTI's GTA V roleplay server. It runs on FiveM with the Qbox framework and a large set of custom jobs, heists, gangs, and activities.
It's a small server, and it's built for that. Most things work solo: robberies work with a crew of one, bounty hunting is designed for solo play, and the city explains each place the first time you find it, so you're never stuck waiting for someone to show you around.

How the City Works
The short version. Read this once and the rest of the page makes sense.
- You hold one job at a time. Sign up at City Hall. Taking a new job replaces the old one. A lot of ways to make money need no job at all.
- Jobs pay a small paycheck while you're on duty. The real money comes from doing the work: every delivery, stop, bag, or fare pays on the spot.
- Everything is “look at it and interact.” Hold Left Alt and look at a person, car, or object to see what you can do with it.
- Three kinds of money: cash, bank, and black money. Crime pays in black money. Some shops only take black money, and you can wash it into clean cash.
- The police are AI and they are always around. They respond on their own, whether or not any players are on duty. See How the Police Work.
- The city remembers you. Your character builds a criminal reputation, a trade reputation, and an explorer reputation, plus an honor score. These unlock better deals and longer jail sentences.
- Inventory & phone: Your inventory has 50 slots and holds up to 85 kg. Your phone opens with F1 and is the hub for gig work, geocaching, and more.
First Steps
Create your character
You'll design your character's look when you first join, then choose where to spawn. You can have more than one character. Hold B to open the character switcher, point at a face, and release to swap.
Your first hour
- Get your ID ($150) and driver's licence ($80) at City Hall (downtown, marked “City Services”). You'll need them.
- Take a job at City Hall's job centre. If you don't know what to pick, take Go Postal, Garbage, or Vending. The vehicle is provided and they pay steadily.
- Buy a phone at any 24/7 store and some bandages. The phone opens with F1 and gives you the gig apps.
- Eat and drink. When you get hungry or thirsty, your maximum health drops until you eat or drink. See Healing.
- Drive around. Every place you pass gets explained and added to your map.
Get your papers at City Hall
City Hall (downtown, marked "City Services") issues your ID and licences. It also has the job centre — every job there, and how to start it, is on the Jobs page.
| Document | Cost |
|---|---|
| ID card | $150 |
| Driver's licence | $80 |
| Fishing licence | $50 |
| Hunting licence | $100 |
| Weapon licence | $250 |
| Boating licence | $350 |
| Commercial driver's licence | $500 |
| Pilot licence | $1,200 |
Explore — the map fills in as you go
Your map starts empty. The first time you get close to a job, shop, or activity, a short note tells you what it is, what you need, and what it pays, and the place is pinned to your map for good. Use /guide all to show everything at once, /guide discovered to go back to only what you've found, or /guide none to hide the pins. Running /guide also lets you switch whole categories on or off (Legal work, Criminal, Crafting, Shops, Services, Sport & fun).
