CTI Sandstorm Checkpoint is our Insurgency: Sandstorm server. It runs Checkpoint co-op: everyone on the server plays as one team, taking objectives from AI insurgents.

On top of stock Checkpoint, the server adds HQ fire support you can call in, booby-trapped doorways, enemy drones and mortars, and counter-attacks if the team stalls. Each one is covered below.

Get the Mods

The server runs about 40 GB of mods. Your game can download them when you join, but that's exactly when games tend to crash. Grab them from the main menu first.

  1. Sign in on mod.io with the same account your game uses. That's usually Sign in with Steam.
  2. Open the CTI Sandstorm Checkpoint collection, click Follow collection, and keep “Subscribe me to all mods in this collection” ticked.
  3. Also subscribe to ISMCmod on its own page. mod.io can't put mods that depend on other mods into a collection yet, so it isn't in the collection.
  4. Launch Sandstorm and stay on the main menu until the downloads finish.

Connecting

  1. Own Insurgency: Sandstorm on Steam and have it installed.
  2. Get the mods first. See above.
  3. Join: in the in-game server browser, search “CTI Sandstorm Checkpoint US East” and join it. The button on the Servers page launches Sandstorm for you.
  4. Join the CTI Discord at discord.gg/ctiservers for announcements, finding players, and support.
Live status: the Insurgency: Sandstorm card on the Servers page shows current player count and server details.

First Spawn

ISMC shows a changelog popup over the loadout screen, and it can't be closed from there. Deploy with any loadout, click the popup away once you've spawned, then set up your kit. The popup only comes back after an ISMC update.

Round Rules

HQ Fire Support

After your team completes objective A, then C, E and so on (every other objective), a Team Leader or Advisor gets an HQ offer in the chat box. Reply in chat within 3 minutes. You get one strike per offer.

1. Pick the strike by typing its command in chat:

TypeStrike
%a10A-10 attack run
%artilleryArtillery barrage
%rocketsRocket barrage
%mortarsMortar strike

2. Pick the target by typing its number:

TypeTarget
1Your own position
2The enemy objective
3The nearest enemy group

Warn your team before you call a strike on your own position.

Booby-Trapped Doors

Doorways near the active objective can be rigged with frag grenades, C4, IEDs, incendiaries or flashbangs.

Counter-Attacks

If you see “The enemy is regrouping” after a capture, get onto the next objective and start capturing it within about two minutes. If you don't, the enemy hits the point you just took, with mortars and rockets. Keep pushing.

Enemy Drones & Mortars

Every few minutes the enemy can send grenade drones, IED drones or mortars. They go after marksmen and team leaders, or anyone bunched up. Spread out, and keep an ear out for drones overhead.

Troubleshooting

Crashed while joining?

  1. Relaunch the game, let the mods finish downloading at the main menu, then join again.
  2. Still crashing? Old Sandstorm mods you subscribed to in the past can clash with ours. Open your mod.io library, unsubscribe from any Sandstorm mods that aren't in the collection (keep ISMCmod), then restart the game and join again.
  3. Still stuck? Post this log file in a support ticket in the CTI Discord:
    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Insurgency\Saved\Logs\Insurgency.log

Changelog popup covering the loadout screen?

That's ISMC's changelog. Deploy with any loadout and close it once you've spawned. See First Spawn.
